For most of us, we need to begin to practice becoming still. This practice is a beautiful way to support that need. Yin yoga is a meditative approach with a physical focus that helps us to connect to the deeper layers of our body. The yogi is able to access the deep tissues such as the connective tissue and fascia and many of the postures focus on areas that encompass a joint (hips, sacrum, spine). As we age flexibility in the joints decreases and Yin yoga is an effective way to maintain that flexibility and increase the quality of life. The class includes asana (poses) pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation and lecture.
