The big astrological news is the transiting Uranus square the transiting Pluto that is approaching its first exact square on June 24, 2012. The orb of influence is one to one- and-a-half months on either side of that date. This square will be staying with us for the next couple of years, but since these two planets are both known to “fire” or activate early, chances are you are aware of what they symbolize already.
Uranus is the planet that represents freedom and rebellion; brilliance and chaos; suddenness and separation.
Pluto symbolizes rebirth and manipulation; the subconscious and groups; leadership and power struggles.
A square between two planets brings almost too much energy for the two to handle, thus it is called the conflict aspect. Therefore two powerful, and possibly volatile, outer planets are in a dance with each other. May they dance well, and not clash, in their respective styles!
If you can remember the mid-to-late 1960s, transiting Uranus was conjunct transiting Pluto in the sign of Virgo. A conjunction attempts to blend or adhere two planets together. There was a heady mixture of groups trying to change the established order. What is the legacy of that Uranus/Pluto aspect?
Uranus has been in Aries since summer 2010, and Pluto entered Capricorn in January 2008. Both are in cardinal signs, and the conflict is that Aries is fire and Capricorn is earth. Cardinal signs want their own way, and they are leaders. Fire is productive of action and enthusiasm, while earth of work and practicality.
Will they rattle each other up? Have you seen thus in your world?
Since they are both symbols of change, you can expect it. On a personal level, it is generally recommended to make small, not extreme changes if at all possible. The more suddenly a major change comes up, the more you may wish to slow down your decision-making. Better to react to others and to the situation, instead of being the initiator, so that you can evaluate clearly, and not feel forced or manipulated.
Staying calm, patient and serene, no matter what size of the group you are in, may be a wise choice.
Every aspect is productive of growth and this one is no exception! May you find the sustained liberation that Uranus/Pluto can offer, and radiate it outward to all those you meet.
