Welcome to the Temple of Kriya Yoga. We are much more than a yoga studio. For six decades, students have come to the Temple to practice and learn more about the spiritual aspects of Kriya Yoga and listen to the dynamic teachings of Goswami Kriyananda, the founder and Spiritual Preceptor. Kriya Yoga is a spiritual path involving breathing and meditation techniques leading toward peace, bliss and connection to God, or higher consciousness. It was introduced to the U.S. by Paramhansa Yogananda in 1920, who came from India where the Kriya Yoga lineage was started by Babaji, who is considered to be an avatar. Goswami Kriyananda introduced Kriya Yoga to the Midwest in the 1950s and then founded the Temple of Kriya Yoga in the late 1960s, which he opened in downtown Chicago. In 1979, he purchased our building in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. Due to needed building repairs, we are currently meeting at Moksha Yoga Center, at 2528 W. Armitage Avenue, Chicago. Please join us for our Sunday services, which include a meditation from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. and our traditional noon meditation starting at 12:00. Spiritual guidance is also available on Sundays.
