Grapevine

​     The universe is a dual universe, and what is happening in the external world is not always what is happening in the internal world; what is happening in the internal plane is not always happening on the external plane.
The goal of Yoga is to gather together the forces from the Powers that Be and bring our life, internally and externally, that which is below and that which is above, into unity.

     We have markers in the sky, which are normally signs and symbols. These are not only external, but also internal signals and symbols. Spring is one of these markers.

​     Now, mankind, because of his nature has confused with which head he thinks. Choosing wrongly he fails to see the spring, the well-spring that is within.

     
Sri, Sri Babaji is the fountainhead of our existence. This does imply that there is the spring and a spring, a duality that the fountainhead is within you. It necessitates a sacrifice of the senses. It necessitates a quieting of the body. It necessitates an inturning and uplifting – to attune to thy spring, which waters the Garden of God. Somehow we need to carry that water forth from within us to nourish this Garden of God in which we find ourselves.

     Though we may be unaware of it, externally and/or internally, we live in the Garden of God surrounded by flowers, fruits, nuts and vegetables. Yet, we eat the wrong things.

     We find that if we were to listen, we would learn a great Wisdom. If you could go with the wise man and could sit beside the grapes - not the grapes of wrath, but the grapes that bring forth the Holy Wine – you would come to understand.
Once upon a yogi time, there was a grapevine which lived in the Garden of God. Every year it noticed that cold, sterile people would come and rip the grapes from its branches.  They would take from it, its grapes. This disturbed the grapevine because no one ever showed any appreciation.

     One day a wise man, having trekked a great distance and having yet to go a great distance, sat near this grapevine in order to rest. The grapevine recognized the soul as wise and thus it thought, “This is my opportunity to solve the mystery of the people coming every year and taking my grapes, without showing any thankfulness to me." Thus, the grapevine spoke saying, “Oh, wise sir, as you probably know, I’m a vine. Whenever my fruit is ripe people come and steal my fruit. Now, this does not bother me. What bothers me is that they do not show any sign of appreciation whatsoever. Can you explain this mystery to me? Can you explain their strange and unnatural conduct?"

     The wise man thought a few minutes and then spoke, “Well, Sir Vine, I am thinking the reason is, that these people come and take your grapes under the impression that you cannot help producing grapes and that you cannot eat them.”
I tell you true, here is something to meditate upon. Here is something to think upon, for it contains within its symbolism wisdom of how to spring, and how to spring forth, with your spring, the Spring.

      If we meditate in this garden of God we will find that it is productive of ecstasy, joy and Wisdom, and thus, reveals the answer to the goal of life.
