Sure Relief from Grief©
“The thing yoga tries to teach us is that life is about being happy,” says Goswami Kriyananda. “If we learn how to deal with life, how to live in this world, we have a sure relief from grief.”
|
“We suffer and feel grief because we forget that life is about getting happy,” says Goswami. “Ask yourself, what are you all about? If you think you know, but you’re not happy, then you’re wrong about what you’re about. There is a meaning for your individual life. You simply forgot it. It’s about getting happy with wisdom and self-awareness.”

Teaching on Happiness©
The purpose of life is to be happy. So why are so many people miserable? We lack awareness of the spirit or light within us. And we change our values and desires from moment to moment.

First, get to know God, the Reality. You may think you know God. But do you even know the names of your next-door neighbors? Are you afraid, indifferent, distant from life? Be willing to explore life. To know life is to know God.
Knowing the Reality will bring great happiness. But you also need to develop wisdom, knowledge and spiritual techniques. One crucial step is to find the right livelihood. Decide what you really enjoy doing and take steps to make that your livelihood.
Overall, develop your spiritual life. “Make sure you leave yourself some time to center, inturn, and lift in awareness to the high place,” says Goswami. “Turn inward, meditate, dial in to sanity. Develop a lifestyle that allows you to become permanently happy, right here and now, in the eternal awareness of your own being.”
Life’s Order: Dharma
In this talk, Kriyananda teaches that dharma is a cosmic law that upholds and sustains. Time is the uniqueness of dharma, and dharma always is objective. An enlightened soul will live the dharma because it is best for that person. Self-awareness reveals what is and is not “good” for a given person at a given time. Kriyananda stresses strongly that the secret of life is to be more aware of your “self” than of the objects around you. Following the lecture he addresses a wide range of questions about where your dharma can take you. |
Sun of God: Goswami Kriyananda's Upa Gita
The Serpent Power
In this fascinating lecture, Goswami Kriyananda gives an overview of kundalini yoga. He describes how the six astral chakras relate to the awakening of the kundalini. The chakras are a system of mass energy converters. Kundalini energy, which resides in the Saturn chakra, is awakened and rises through the chakras. Goswami stresses that the kundalini experience is non-emotional. As the energy rises and touches the petals of the chakras, they manifest energy. “The whole problem, yogically, is that we’re suffering because we are limited,” says Goswami. “Within that limitation, the state of consciousness produces ignorance. If we activate the energies and sweep them up through the chakras, the pattern is perceived and understanding comes.” With enough perception, you see how to solve the problem of suffering. “Once we bring the energy up, we can do things. Call it divine energies, or yoga siddhi. It’s not magic. It’s very natural.” In this lecture, Goswami refers to Sir John Woodroffe’s book The Serpent Power: Being the Shat-Chakra-Nirupana and Paduka-Panchaka. Published in 1919, it is a translation of two ancient yogic texts. Goswami says, “What life is about, according to this book, is what is the song of God? How can I play God’s song? Mystically, life is the search for the true song of God.”
