Weekend Workshop

Conscious Aging

GABRIEL HALPERN

Saturday Jan.26 at1pm-4pm

Sunday Jan. 27 at 1pm-4pm

An unprecedented wave of conscious aging is upon us in a mass scale. What is needed is a mature perspective to provide a spiritual vision to guide us into the new millennium.  Yoga offers such guidance. Both time tested and ever fresh, Yoga states facts and give techniques on how to experience those facts.  Because it draws upon tradition, it connects us to the collective wisdom of our past.  And because it is kept alive by contemporary practitioners in each generation, it remains ever new and equal to every tussle on the material plane. Learn how to modify poses to maintain a lifetime commitment to yoga. The workshop will begin with one of Gabriel’s dharma raps comparing yoga philosophy’s stages of life with Eric Erikson’s Life Cycle and its stages of development.

Yoga, Aging, and Radiance

Saturday Jan.26, 1-4 pm

Yoga‘s gift to the aging process is radiance.  As we modify poses to fit our aging process, Yoga can be miraculous in helping us accept, adapt, and make the best of any changes in our anatomy or in our life.  That inner glow- the radiance, derives from that harmony we feel with our own life. Today’s session will include a discussion on what it means to stay young and retain child-like qualities without be childish. Postures will be taught that emphasize hormonal balance, brain wave synchrony, and emotional equilibrium will be taught.

Yoga and Inner Beauty

Sunday Jan. 27, 1-4pm

Yoga is anti-entropic; it counters the aging process. Yoga confers a youthful body, a wise mind, and an open heart.  Each contributes to longevity. Together they build confidence which radiates inner beauty. Yoga not only offers sage advice and rules for living, but technique also. Aging begins with deficiency not years; yoga staves that off by teaching poses and sequences that strengthen the immune system, our most resilient and adaptable organ. Leave accepting and loving the part in yourself which is one with the ancient of days and also ever youthful. Gabriel’s dharma talks will embrace the aspects of yoga philosophy which honors each season of life and looks forward to living long enough to grow into a wise elder whose inner beauty defies aging.
